[wow! that was chatty. buzen listened in for a little bit but left not too long after - he wants to give the npcs a break, dang! so he'll just wander off and run into fukuzawa]

Yo, Fuku-sensei! How're you doing after all that?

[He is honestly worrying quite a bit about the guy who seems like he is going to kill someone, but he won't bring that up at this moment.]

Nothing we learned was beyond what I had expected. I suppose it's time to decide on teams though.

Oohh, yeah? That's really decisive of you! Who've you got your eye on?

I feel like I should watch and learn.

[He looks a little uncomfortable at the idea of forming teams. He hates being out of his element and having to rely on strangers.]

Skill matters little to me, I can make up for any skill deficit. But I would like to be with people of good character.

That makes sense. If your life is tied to theirs, you'd probably want to make sure that your teammate will help you get to the finish line, right?

And ideally without hurting too many people along the way...

week zero saturday

[buzen is walking instead of running! but he'll raise a hand to say hi to fukuzawa when he sees him]

It was a different kind of stressful than usual, but nothing I can't handle.

[He fought in a war, death and blood are not new to him.]

Mm... I'm okay. I'm a little dazed - but that doesn't have much to do with the actual trial itself.

Even though it definitely was hard to think that much, for so long, and I only made it about halfway...

It's alright. That trial was unlike anything I have ever seen before, I'm not surprised it was overwhelming.

week 1 monday

[so they end up in the coliseum! i guess it's time for some sword fighting? buzen will just look around for a moment but grin when he catches sight of his opponent]

Fuku-sensei! Hey. You up for a spar?

I'm sure I am no match for an actual sword, but I will try my best.

[He does bow respectfully though before taking his position.]

I have healing, if we strike too deeply on accident.

[he laughs at that, amused before he goes to match fukuzawa's stance]

Did you ever get around to naming your blade? I'd like to know who else I'm clashing with.

...it might be a little strange, but I was thinking 'Kaizen'. Or something along those lines.

[The kanji being 改善 for reference.]

I carried this sword with me through a very dark time in my life, using it to commit horrific acts. And I carry it still, though in the name of defending others now rather than taking lives. A name meaning 'self improvement' seems fitting in that regard.

I am open to suggestions for improvement though.

Week 1, Saturday

[WELL THIS IS AWKWARD. But it's fine, he wanted to check on Buzen anyway.

He won't ask how Buzen is doing, because the answer is probably 'not well'. Instead, he'll ask something else:]

[Good. Hearing that anger is exactly what Fukuzawa was hoping for.]

Will you handle things tomorrow? Or do you need someone else to do it?

[He will totally understand if Buzen wants to handle things.]

week 4 sunday

[sometime after their maid cafe meeting and everything that entails - buzen is going to approach fukuzawa! he's still wearing the butler uniform, but he looks a little concerned]

Fuku-sensei.

... you open to talk?

[Fukuzawa looks quite tired, but he knows there's a lot that needs to be done, so he'll nod to Buzen.]

What's on your mind?

I'm worried about you. And maybe I don't have any right to be...

[given how the discussions went, and how fucking wild this whole situation is]

... but I still am.

I know a lot is being asked of you, all at once.

[Wow suddenly his stomach is in knots and he feels like he wants to throw up!]

It's no more than some of the situations I've been in back home. There will always be times where you have to take in a lot of information and make decisions on the fly. Your worry is appreciated, but not needed.

Worried in the sense that I hope it isn't too painful...

But in the end, we know that they come here, and we can do our best to welcome them so...
